Vhi Healthcare price and benefit changes – 1 October 2024
Price changes
On 1st October 2024, Vhi will change the price of 44 plans.

Benefit changes
On 1st October 2024, Vhi will make the following benefit changes;
Increase to Out-Patient mental health therapy
- Increasing the existing Out-patient mental health therapy benefit by €25 on all plans that currently have the benefit included.
Inclusion of new Specified diagnostic tests benefit
- Including a new standalone benefit on the Table of benefits for all plans which is to be used to claim the following diagnostic tests; ECG (Electrocardiograph), Cardiac Stress Tests, Holter Monitor, Cardiac Event Monitor, Blood Pressure Monitor and EEG (Electroencephalogram).
Replacement of existing JointCare Programme with new Fit-For-Life Mobility Programme
- VHI are removing the existing ‘JointCare Programme’ from all plans and replacing it with a new ‘Fit-For-Life Mobility Programme’ which includes cover for a ’Falls Risk and Mobility Screening (including Osteoporosis screening)’ and ‘Mobility Physiotherapy’ when carried out by a Physiotherapist employed by The Physio Company.
Removal of ‘Per Calendar Year’ limit from Cancer Care Support Benefit
- VHI are removing the ‘Per Calendar Year’ limit from the small number of plans that currently have this included against their ‘Cancer Care Support - Accommodation, travel & parking costs’ benefit. This will result in all plans now having the same standardised benefit of €100 per treatment.
Additional benefit changes to select plans
In addition to the above VHI are also making a number of amendments to the following five plans which includes us increasing the Day to Day, Maternity and Screening benefits on the plans and increasing the excess applicable to Private Hospital and Day Hospital/Centres admissions;
- One Plan
- One Plan Family
- One+ Plan
- Nurses’ Plan Select
- Teachers’ Plan Select
Also increasing the Hearing aid benefit on the following plan;
- PremiumCare
Removal of free 4th & subsequent children
Will commence charging the applicable child rate premium for all insured children on policies with effect the 1st October 2024. This change will be applicable for all plans with the exception of the four following plans which will receive this change at a later date;
